Wells was born in Claremont county, Ohio, August 10th, 1824. His father, William R. Wells, was born in Kentucky in 1784. At the age of twenty two he married Anna Douglass, of Lexington, Kentucky. In 1819 he removed to Indiana and resided in that state twenty-eight years. He was a farmer. In 1847 he removed to Fulton county, Illinois, where he now resides, hale and hearty. Samuel came to this county in 1844. In 1846 he married Miss Louise Mayfield, who died about six years after their marriage, leaving one child. In 1859 he was married to Elizabeth Heller. The fruits of this marriage is a family of four children. Mr. Wells is now engaged in practicing law at Cuba, Fulton county.
